—You can shoot a basic shot and then add effects (sound, visual) after to make the scene look more professional
—Can be done on a low budget if a villain character is not shown in the film. E.g. Paranormal activity
—The film can play of peoples’ fear that they don’t understand
Cons
—Production can be quite expensive; visual effects and CGI are expensive to use.
—Requires, often, quite a lot of equipment to create effects.
—If you show the villain, it has to be visually scary.
—There must be a believable reason why the supernatural being is preying on the hero. E.g. A reason why the girl is being haunted.
—Can be quite time consuming as shots will possibly need to be heavily edited or CGI added.
